American-style diner Celebz, which sells 50 flavours of milkshake, has opened at St. Modwen’s Longbridge town centre, generating 20 new jobs.

Local people and students at Bournville College are amongst those employed in customer services and kitchen roles.

Independently-owned Celebz served its first customers earlier this month (on Tuesday 11 November). It sells a delicious array of American-themed cuisine, from big burgers and fries to desserts and milkshakes.

The 1950s-inspired diner has décor and music from the era, and staff wear vintage-style clothing.

Occupying a 1,720 sq ft unit on a 10 year lease, the diner is located in the heart of the town centre overlooking Austin Park.

Shakeel Asghar, managing director of Celebz, chose to launch the brand in Longbridge,  with a further restaurant opening on Corporation Street in central Birmingham early in the New Year. He said:

“We opened Celebz in Longbridge because it’s a unique eatery and Longbridge is a unique place. It fits into the area perfectly as there’s nothing else like it here.”

He added: “We’ve mostly employed people who live locally as well as Bournville College students. Celebz appeals to the local community, students, office workers and visitors because it’s a fun place to be.”

Mark Watkins, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “We’re excited that Celebz has opened. It is providing jobs to students and experienced chefs alike.

“I’m sure customers will be keen to work their way through its milkshake menu.”
